Exporting & Restoring Encrypted .akb Practice Backups in AdvoKosh
How to create portable, password-encrypted chamber backups (.akb) and restore your entire practice on a new Android phone.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Backup & Restore Center
From the bottom navigation bar, tap More > 'Backup & Practice Migration'.
Select 'Create Encrypted Backup'
Tap 'Export .akb Practice Archive'.
Set Master Backup Passphrase
Enter a strong, memorable master passphrase. AdvoKosh uses PBKDF2 with 65,536 iterations and AES-256-GCM to encrypt the database and all document attachments.
Save or Share .akb Archive
Save the generated `.akb` file to your device Downloads, USB flash drive, or share via Android Share Sheet to your private Google Drive or email.
Restoring on a New Android Device
Install AdvoKosh on your new phone. On the welcome setup screen, tap 'Restore Practice from .akb', select the file, enter your passphrase, and tap 'Decrypt & Restore'.
Expected Outcome
All active cases, hearings, documents, billing ledgers, and clients restored seamlessly across devices without any cloud vendor lock-in.
Important Points & Common Pitfalls
- Forgetting your master backup passphrase. Because AdvoKosh uses zero-knowledge AES-256-GCM encryption, lost passphrases cannot be recovered by VaidikTech.
